MobMovhas
made the Sunday night ritual of watching a movie with friends a whole
lot easier. No longer need you cram onto the couch in your tiny
apartment living room. Thanks to MobMov (short for mobile movie) you
can create your own private drive-in movie theatre in your local
neighborhood. The concept was dreamt up last year by 25-year-old web
developer Bryan Kennedy who gathered his friends (and their
friends) via mailing lists for movie nights. Kennedy's website
tells you how to set the outdoor system up (using a DVD player and
projector) so it's totally DIY. Movies in the neighborhood, now that's
the community spirit. by Billy T via Springwise
Axe's men's knicker range cleverly demonstrates the stretchiness of its brand. "A sultry pouting brunette struts down a darkened corridor and begins to
size up the muscular man before her. She tantalisingly allows her hands
to explore his torso, her hands reaching further and further down,
until with a raise of her eyebrows, she makes a discovery... His
super-stretchy pants. She suggestively pulls on the front of the
underwear for an obscenely long time, only to let them snap back,
leaving her muscle-man smarting.Delightfully funny." Watch the video
The winter wardrobe staple,òthe hoodie"ì just got
exclusive. Why be a peasant and buy your hoodie from a store when you
can have a one custom made for your, um, head. New York outfit I Love Curls make hoodies to order. Now you can pound the pavement assured that your head dress is a one of a kind. by Lisa Evans
If it hasn’t already won an award we think this ad for Folgers coffee should be first in line for the blue ribbon. Created by Saatchi & Saatchi NY, the clever campaign consists of delicious looking photos of coffee printed on vinyl and placed on top of steaming manhole covers around New York. Holes cut out of the photographs allow the steam from the manholes to rise through, created the effect of giant, steaming hot cups of coffee. Brilliant. by Billy T
In 2004, the Wall House #2 Foundation acquired the Wall House, a space dedicated to art and providing a public and cultural function.
The building which opened in the Netherlands last year is an artwork in itself, its rich interiors offer a flowing form which resonates the creative energies within the space. Wall House offers a range of 4 programs . The artist in residence, public access to the house, various special events and the knowledge development department.
The artist in residence programme currently features the works of Javier Marchan who's collection of 12 silk screen prints are simply captivating. Originally from Spain, Marchan is based in Austria and is well known for his distinct silk screen prints. With his works collected in galleries in The U.K , Netherlands and Austria, Marchan's time as artist in residence has earned him even greater critical acclaim. by Billy T
Inspired by Kubrick's famous ceremony scene of
passion in the movie "Eyes Wide Shut"ù, the Swiss Andrej Lorenc
organizes Castles Events in the same vein. He rents castles and invites
selected members of his club to spend a night of fantasies: garters,
black underwear, wasp-waisted corsets, capes and Venetian masks are
compulsory. Drink Champagne, feast your eyes on skin, dance to the
sounds of well-known dj's, and give in to your erotic--or perhaps
sexual--desires. Sexiness is also a prerequisite. Teased? Basically the
parties are scheduled four times per year, mostly in Switzerland. The
special of this year takes place during a weekend in an original
glamorous Mediaeval Castle in the middle of France in September. For
international guests there is an airport 20 kilometers away from the
Castle. The exact place will only be communicated to exclusive members.
The price varies according to the events. Price fee on this special
event varies between $700 - $1000‚Ç for a couple or single men. Single
woman pay $200. For 'High End' Guests, Castle Events provide an
extraordinary comfortable Service Package, which includes your own
Suite in
the Castle - varies 2000 - 5000€. Be aware there are only 20 rooms
available. The address for temptation: www.castleevents.com.. by Yvan Rodic
As the debate about the efficiency and affordability of alternative energy sources continues, developers are planning to build the world's first hydrogen powered community in Denmark. The suburb dubbed H2pia is geared towards balancing energy needs with the cost to the environment and our climate. Residents of this hydrogen community will collect their own energy via solar and wind sources, which will charge hydrogen fuel cells that power both the home and automobiles. The various structures within the neighborhood have been designed so that their curves and orientation can maximize returns on energy collection. With construction scheduled to begin in 2007, the completion of this project could provide essential feedback towards making hydrogen a viable option in the energy game. by Harold C
Compact and foldaway are words that we love to hear when looking at traveling audio devices. This iPod Nano sound deck by Xtrememac is an extremely simple design which when not in use folds into itself by bending back into its clear perspex back which acts as its cover.
An aluminum speaker grill protects the speakers inside , whilst interchangeable black and white covers unleashes the fashion victim in us all and satisfies both black and white Nano owners. The Micro blast is not just for travel, its perfect for those with limited spaces as its footprint takes up very little of your desks real-estate. Did we mention it also charges the Nano? well it does. Small, smart and packs a punch. by Andy G
Tabula rasa is Latin for blank slate, which perfectly describes the
Kunsthaus museum that is essentially an empty shell. Inside, thirty
international artists combined models, videos, photographs, paintings,
and specially commissioned installations into a synchronized exposition
entitled M-City.
M-City is the brainchild of ReD (Research + Design), who endeavored
to produce a synergy of the existing museum structure and content
exhibited therein. FLUOscape is presented on the first floor as an
orthogonal grid of 586 repetitive fluorescent lights and flags of
various lengths, which give the space a topographic feel. On the
second floor, the CONEplex installation consists of six projection environments, whereby visitors can walk
underneath floating funnels and view video portraits of cities such as:
Basel, Graz, Trieste, RurhStadt, Krakow, and Ljubljana. Due to the
success of M-City, ReD was recently invited to display the project at
the Pavillon de l'Arsenal in Paris for the exhibition titled "Architectures Scenographies". Seemingly simplistic and sterile, this
initiative redefines the museum experience and is welcome change from
the roped barriers of yore. by Harold C
About Blank letting
the mirror reflect its own beauty: the reflective brooches created by
the three French designers approach a certain wearable "nothingness" -
an emptiness or reflection of the void if you will... From Marilyn's
"Poopoo Pidoo" to a dinosaurs skull to honorific medals or sexual
positions, you have your choice of messages to choose from without any
due "reflection." by Yvan Rodic
The search for renewable energy sources is one of the most crucial of our time. London low-carbon energy consultancy and engineering firm XCO2 has come up with the ‘quiet revolution,’ a wind turbine that looks as good as it sounds. The stylishly designed vertical-axis turbine is virtually silent and vibration free. It’s already creating a buzz in environmental design circles, with early customers including city councils, architects and homeowners. by Billy T
Stars are inspiring the world. Celebrity culture
has never been so present in our day-to-day life. In just a few years,
star-chasing magazines have become pop culture gospels. All around the
world fashionistas meticulously observe how Paris, Kate and Angelina
dress and behave. To play into the celebrity-appeal game Morgan,
a French fashion label, has created a funny shopping bag inspired by
celebrity magazine covers. Your shopping bag will now have pictures of
celebrities shopping themselves... Available in the main European
Morgan stores with the purchase of one of their jeans. by Yvan Rodic
