No, it's not the sleeve of your 80's prom dress, nor is it left over gift-wrapping from Christmas. This ribbon-like construction is the roof to a unique hotel in Alava, Spain. Hotel Marque's De Riscal was designed by renowned architect, Frank O. Gehry, in an attempt to redefine the traditional image of winery regions in Spain. The hotel/winery/tasting house boasts 43 modern suites, all with wireless internet, LCD TV's, marble bathrooms, a fine restaurant, a tourist centre and is well renown in the area for its remarkably unique architecture which is most impressive from the rear angle of the building.

Nestled in the 19th century established wine region of Rioja, the hotel itself is akin to sticking Dame Edna Everage among the cast of Little House On The Prairie. In other words, it sticks out! by Lisa Evans
